About the Course Chairs
Martin Sheard founded Inlet Employment Law in June 2020.
He is an accomplished employment lawyer and has chosen to focus on plaintiff-side workplace sexual misconduct claims. Martin has appeared at every level of court in Canada, and has been successful counsel on numerous leading employment law cases. He advocated successfully for the rights of marginalized Canadians in the Supreme Court of Canada in Matthews v. Ocean Nutrition. He has lectured at law schools. He has been quoted in the news and educational materials on a wide array of employment law issues. He is a past president of the employment law subsection of the Canadian Bar Association.
Leigh Stansfield is an associate at Pulver Crawford Munroe LLP. She practices in all areas of labour and employment law.
Prior to joining PCM, Leigh practiced with a leading criminal defence firm on Vancouver Island and was engaged in both trial and appellate advocacy. That experience enabled her to hone her analytical skills and develop a strong ability to advocate for her clients. She has appeared as counsel at both the Provincial and Supreme Court level.
Leigh received her law degree from the University of Victoria in 2017. Upon graduation, she was awarded the William R. McIntyre Medal for academic achievement and student leadership. Following graduation, Leigh completed a clerkship with the BC Supreme Court.
Before law school, Leigh completed her Bachelor of Arts at UBC, where she played five years for the varsity women's basketball team.
